MoodLensAI vs. n8n Cloud

MoodLensAI runs your own self-hosted n8n instance on a managed server at a fixed monthly price. n8n Cloud is n8n's own hosted offering, billed by workflow executions. Here is how they actually differ.

Last reviewed: 2026-09-13

n8n Cloud is n8n's own managed SaaS, priced by monthly workflow-execution volume and bundled with AI credits and enterprise features at the higher tiers. MoodLensAI instead deploys the same open-source n8n software as a self-hosted instance on your own managed server, with no execution-count metering — the only real ceiling is your plan's server resources.

Dimension by dimension

n8n Cloud MoodLensAI
Pricing model Per-plan monthly fee, billed annually, tied to execution volume Fixed monthly price, not tied to execution count
Entry price €20/month (Starter, billed annually) $5/month (Starter plan)
Workflow executions 2,500/month on Starter, 10,000 on Pro, 40,000 on Business No execution-count limit from n8n itself — bounded only by your server's resources
Self-hosting Not available below the Business tier (€667/month) Self-hosted by design, on every plan
Deployment model n8n's own multi-tenant cloud infrastructure Your own isolated deployment, not shared with other customers
Backups Check n8n Cloud's own documentation for its current policy Automatic, scheduled, stored off the server
SSO/SAML, environments, Git version control From the Business plan (€667/month) up Not offered — this is a single self-hosted instance, not an enterprise n8n deployment

When n8n Cloud is the better choice

  • You want n8n's own team to run the infrastructure entirely, with zero server-adjacent responsibility on your side.
  • You need enterprise features — SSO/SAML/LDAP, environments, Git-based workflow version control — which only exist on n8n Cloud's Business/Enterprise tiers.
  • You want n8n's bundled AI credits or its AI Assistant preview feature.
  • Your usage is low and predictable enough that per-execution pricing works out cheaper than a fixed server price.

When MoodLensAI is the better choice

  • Your workflow volume is high or unpredictable and you do not want to track execution counts against a monthly cap.
  • You want a fixed price regardless of how many workflows or executions you run.
  • You want a genuinely self-hosted instance — your own isolated deployment, not a seat on a shared multi-tenant cloud — without managing the underlying server yourself.
  • You are already using MoodLensAI for other apps and want n8n under the same account and billing.

Who is responsible for what

n8n Cloud MoodLensAI
Server/infrastructure management n8n (fully managed) MoodLensAI (fully managed)
n8n application updates n8n (automatic) MoodLensAI pins a tested image version; upgrades are a MoodLensAI-side update, not self-service yet
Backup scheduling Check n8n Cloud's own documentation Automatic, off-server, scheduled by default
Execution volume limits Enforced per plan tier None from n8n itself — bounded by your plan's server resources

Security & backups

MoodLensAI's n8n deployment runs in its own isolated container per our published isolation model, with workflows and credentials backed up on the schedule described on our Backups page. For n8n Cloud's own security and backup posture, refer to n8n's own documentation rather than a restated claim here.

A note on pricing

n8n Cloud's prices above (€20/month Starter, €50/month Pro, €667/month Business, custom Enterprise, all billed annually) were verified directly on n8n's own pricing page on the date shown below, are quoted in EUR, and can change at any time — check n8n.io/pricing for current numbers. MoodLensAI's $5/month Starter plan price is fixed and listed on our own pricing page.

Migration path

  1. 1. In n8n Cloud, export the workflows you want to move as JSON (n8n's built-in workflow export feature).
  2. 2. Deploy a self-hosted n8n instance on MoodLensAI from the n8n template — pick a plan and it is provisioned for you.
  3. 3. Import the exported workflow JSON files into your new self-hosted instance.
  4. 4. Reconnect each workflow's credentials (API keys, OAuth connections) inside the new instance — these are not included in a workflow export.
  5. 5. Verify the migrated workflows run correctly, then update any external webhooks to point at the new instance's URL.

Frequently asked questions

Does MoodLensAI limit how many workflow executions I can run?

n8n itself does not meter executions in a self-hosted deployment — the only practical limit is your plan's server resources, not a per-execution cap like n8n Cloud enforces.

Is this the same as n8n Cloud?

No — this is a self-hosted n8n instance running on infrastructure MoodLensAI manages for you, not n8n's own hosted, multi-tenant offering.

Can I move my existing n8n Cloud workflows over?

Yes, using n8n's own JSON workflow export/import feature — see the migration steps above. Credentials need to be reconnected manually since they are not included in an export.

Does MoodLensAI offer SSO or Git-based workflow version control like n8n Cloud's Business plan?

No — those are n8n Cloud Business/Enterprise features tied to n8n's own hosted product, not part of a self-hosted instance.
